Rhetorical Questions a Pet Peeve? Really??

I just need to say, to vent, I HATE when people ask questions that have very logical and understandable answers and when someone tries to say "said" answers, the questioner responds, "It was a rhetorical question."

People! Rhetorical questions are asked to make you ponder and think, to reflect. So when you ask, "Why would they name their child that?" And you are given the answer, "Because it's the baby's great grandmother's name." You don't respond with, "Oh, that was a rhetorical question." Because that just makes me think that you have no idea what a rhetorical question is. And people do this all the time. I just might have to start pointing this error out to people. Hopefully it will be received better than it was by my husband...
